Sydney, Australia: Action in Mt Druitt!

On Wednesday 5 Nov 2025, exactly 150 people overfilled Bidwill Uniting for the Together in 2770 and Sydney Alliance Transport Assembly with NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Marjorie O’Neill - Member for Coogee.

The Assembly was the climax of 2 years of work bringing together 2770 postcode residents, community services, schools and faith groups to demand better local public transport. We also launched our 2770 Transport Equity Report lead authored by Prof Kurt Iveson (Sydney University and NTEU). Read the report here.

Dr O'Neill public recognised the community’s struggles with accessing public transport, and said yes to practical next steps to solving the issue together including a workshop, a working group, and another assembly in 2026 to report back progress. This Assembly was about getting to the table, reaching it’s climax when Dr O’Neill sat down at a physical table with residents as a symbol of her commitment.

Well done to every leader and organisation who played a role, particularly co-chairs Delander Hayes (Jesuit Social Services) Godwin Eddie Bognet (BaptistCare), and Bec Reidy (Bidwill Uniting/Uniting Church NSW & ACT), and supporting organisations: The Hive, Mt Druitt., The Salvation Army NSW & ACT Division, Sweltering Cities, and Diocese of Parramatta.
