This is a win for the people, by the people—and it wouldn’t have happened without the leadership of everyday Missoulians who came together through Common Good Missoula to ensure our city’s future reflects the values, needs, and priorities of its residents.

A Plan Shaped by the People

From the start, our leaders refused to let this plan be just another bureaucratic document shaped behind closed doors. Instead, we built real citizen power—showing up, speaking out, and demanding a planning process that put the community at the center. Through hundreds of conversations, public testimonies, and strategic advocacy, we ensured this plan addressed housing equity, responsible growth, and environmental sustainability.

Holding Government Accountable

This wasn’t just about influencing policy—it was about transforming governance. Common Good Missoula leaders created a culture of accountability, ensuring that city officials followed through on their commitments. By organizing residents from every corner of Missoula—renters, homeowners, workers, and business owners—we kept the pressure on, ensuring that the final plan truly reflected the priorities of the people.

What This Means for Missoula:

With this plan in place, we’ve set the foundation for:

  • More affordable housing options that meet the needs of our growing community.

  • Smarter, more sustainable development that protects our environment and enhances quality of life.

  • A model for future civic engagement, proving that when people come together, we can shape the policies that shape our lives.

This victory belongs to every person who spoke at a meeting, attended a training, or organized their neighbors, their church or their union. It’s proof that real democracy happens when residents lead—not just elected officials.

What’s Next?

We celebrate today, but we keep organizing tomorrow. Now, we hold city leaders accountable for implementing this plan in a way that delivers real results. This win proves that Missoula’s future belongs to all of us—when we come together, we make change happen.

A huge thank you to every Common Good Missoula leader who made this possible. This is what people-powered governance looks like!

Let’s keep building. Let’s keep winning. Onward! 💪
